Absolutely beautiful hotel in a fantastic location with very friendly staff. I will admit it I’m a hotel snob 🤷🏾♀️ but when sleeping in a strange location and spending money, I’m allowed to be. I walked from the train station which is more than half a mile but less than a mile from the hotel. Wonderful google had me cross over rose street so I was turned around a bit. Note to others make a right and don’t cross the street. The hotel is tucked in what would be something similar to a brownstone. Just look for a posh gentleman or gentlewoman standing out front. The room is very well appointed including a towel warmer. I mean who doesn’t want a warm towel after a shower. There’s a great seating area and comfortable bed. I did struggle turning on the tv but I took that as a sign that one shouldn’t be watching tv while on holiday. Although if you’re in the US we know we don’t get holiday, we get a few weeks of vacation and don’t push it with how much you take at once 🙄 PS they have a social hour between 5 and 6pm so complimentary beer and wine whoop whoop If I’m in Edinburgh I’m definitely returning, thanks for a great stay Kimpton

Enjoyed our Easter visit to the hotel and after reading previous reviews we ensured we’d booked the valet parking service Service was friendly and very good. Rooms were comfortable, enjoyed a nice cocktail in Baba and was great to be able to take a short walk down the corridor for a meal at Aizle as it was pouring down outside. Breakfast is served in Baba and was pretty good. We visited the spa for a couples massage which was good. I was hoping for a bigger spa so we could relax around the pool, but the facility was really a pool with sauna and steam room Would definitely stay there again

I am a seasoned traveller. I have a background in the airline, hotel, and travel industry. I changed career becoming a business owner within hospitality. My about 370 posts on TripAdvisor concerns private travelling, for which I have paid. LOCATION I highly recommend Kimpton Charlotte Square for the location. The hotel is situated in the middle of a street facing a small park. This allows for peace and quiet time as opposed to upmarket hotels you find in more busy parts of Edinburgh. ACCESS TO RELEVANT SIGHTS I walked around. I did around 20 km a day and walked easily and safely to fantastic venues and sights. Edinburgh is a safe place to visit. The Scottish people are friendly, helpful and have a great sense of humour. Kimpton Charlotte Sq. is very central to everything. It is easy to walk back for a change of clothes or a break between sightseeing, eating out and eating in. I recommend a visit to the Royal Britannia, the castle, the botanical gardens, The Holyrood Palace, and the National Museum of Scotland, to mention a few. If you are looking for proper tailormade quality woollen wear, jackets, coats, etc., I echo the hotel recommendation of Stewart Christie & Co Ltd, which you will find 3 minutes’ walk from the hotel in 63 Queen Street. HOTEL The hotel has short of two hundred rooms. It feels like a small boutique hotel with only thirty or so rooms. There is plenty of space in the café, restaurants, lobby, and bar for guests to spread out, and chill outside the rooms. HAPPY HOUR 17.00 – 18.00 On the house and included in my stay (room 242). In my room the minibar was also included. BREAKFAST As of 1 April 2024, the full breakfast buffet as well as any orders for hot dishes on the breakfast menu are included in your breakfast if you are a B&B guest. Check my photos for views of the cosy breakfast rooms. I should add – if you are a “coffee-holic” like me, there is a barista !!!! 😊 preparing coffees every morning. However you may take your coffee, he will make it. IHG MEMBER REWARDED FOR PROTECTING THE ENVIRONMENT A first for me – and I am impressed. Kimpton Charlotte Sq. is an IHG hotel. As an IHG member, you are offered points towards your membership, if you forgo housekeeping. Personally, I do not need someone to make my bed, and I can reuse my towels, and prefer to do so. You are rewarded with IHG points if you decide not to have the room serviced on days you choose. More hotels should copy. Rather than the standard “reuse of towels,” which can bring housekeeping in trouble with some guests, the sign here (see photo) means no one enters the room. I find that safe and easy for both parties. DINNER Plenty of good options to dine at the hotel. Make sure you reserve your tables well in advance, they are popular and busy places. Locals come here too. I am a great fan of BABA, which is the hotels very sought after Mediterranean restaurant. STAFF Way back, when I first approached the hotel, there was an “ups - not too impressed” situation. I reached out and was put in contact with the Hotel Manager via the General Manager and all was sorted. You must allow for language barriers, cultural differences, etc. I got the room type, I prefer, and I really enjoyed my room. Spacious and with a spacious bathroom. My room was nicely kept and clean, so was all other facilities at the hotel. I only met engaged, interested, and dedicated staff. However, I must mention a gentleman who turned out to be my housekeeper on one of the two days, where I used housekeeping to freshen up my room. We met in the door as I was leaving. I said: “I have a cold; would you please leave me an extra toilet roll?” When I returned later in the day, he had indeed left me an extra toilet roll. HOWEVER, he had also left me an extra box of Kleenexes on my nightstand. That speaks volume towards care and an eye for detail. I am grateful, and I am really impressed. DECIDING FOR KIMPTON CHARLOTTE SQUARE I read reviews, looked a map, and did my homework. I will return. I thoroughly enjoyed Edinburg, the hotel as a venue and the location. And then there is the Scottish wool coat in progress, which is an excellent excuse to return – I mean, I must come out for the first fitting ?!?

Our experience at Kimpton Charlotte Square Hotel was nothing short of extraordinary, marked by exceptional service and thoughtful attention to detail. From the moment we made our booking, the staff demonstrated a commitment to ensuring our stay would be memorable. They not only accommodated our specific needs but also went the extra mile to anticipate and fulfill any potential requirements. Prior to our arrival, the staff arranged a delightful surprise for my nephew's birthday, with sweet treats and a fruit platter awaiting us in our room. Additionally, they took proactive measures to accommodate my hearing impairment, ensuring our communication throughout the stay would be seamless. This level of personalised care set the tone for the rest of our experience. Upon arrival, Gavin, the concierge, warmly greeted us and provided a comprehensive overview of the hotel facilities and amenities. His attention to detail and genuine hospitality immediately made us feel welcomed and valued as guests. As we were escorted to our rooms, we were pleasantly surprised to find that our luggage had already been delivered, and the treats for my nephew were beautifully arranged with a personalised card from the team. While our initial room was indeed stunning, we encountered some noise disturbances from neighboring guests. However, the swift and proactive response from Abril and the reception team swiftly addressed our concerns. They not only offered to relocate us to a quieter room but also provided us with earplugs and conducted regular check-ins to ensure our comfort throughout the night. The following morning, Samantha on reception went above and beyond to rectify the situation, arranging for us to move to a new room and upgrading us as a gesture of goodwill. The seamless transition of our belongings while we explored Edinburgh further showcased the hotel's commitment to guest satisfaction. Beyond the exceptional service, the hotel's facilities were equally impressive. We made full use of the swimming pool, sauna, and steam room, all of which were impeccably maintained and complimentary for guests. The complementary happy hour from 5 pm to 6 pm was a delightful touch, providing not only an opportunity to sample a variety of beverages but also to mingle with other guests. The culinary experience at Kimpton Charlotte Square Hotel was nothing short of exceptional, with breakfast being a particular highlight. The staff not only provided impeccable service but also offered valuable recommendations for activities to enjoy during rainy days in Edinburgh. Nichola's suggestion of visiting the Cauldron and indulging in afternoon tea at the Dome were both highlights of our trip. Special recognition must also be given to Vignes from the housekeeping team, whose attentiveness and genuine care enhanced our overall experience. His regular check-ins ensured that we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. In conclusion, our time at Kimpton Charlotte Square Hotel surpassed all expectations, thanks to the exceptional staff, luxurious accommodations, and top-notch facilities. We are already eagerly anticipating our return visit, particularly during the Christmas season, when we can once again indulge in the hotel's warm hospitality and festive ambiance.

Excellent hotel & location. Very comfortable room & lovely buffet breakfast with a la carte choices included. The staff make this hotel exceptional. We were greeted at the front door like we were VIP’s. Remi the concierge truly stood out. He was so helpful & accommodating. He helped us book an amazing trip to the highlands with a visit to Dewars Distillery- it was the hi- light of our trip. He answered all our questions & went above & beyond to give us great advice & information for exploring beautiful Edinburgh. Highly recommend this hotel & hope to return someday.
